Fiber Optic Cable Splicing

EveryByteCounts.com is one of the few contractors in Indianapolis and Central Indiana offering both fusion and mechanical fiber splicing at competitive rates. We use the latest splicing equipment and techniques to deliver low-loss, high-performance connections on every job.

We also provide emergency field splicing and restoration services for damaged fiber optic cable installations — minimizing downtime when it matters most.

Mechanical Splicing

Mechanical splicing aligns fiber by hand and is held in place by a self-contained assembly. The two fibers are not permanently joined — just precisely held together enabling light to pass through a specialized gel.

Typical loss: 0.3 dB

Fusion Splicing

In fusion splicing, a machine precisely aligns the two fiber ends, then "fuses" or "welds" them together using heat or electric arc. This produces a continuous connection enabling very low loss light transmission.

Typical loss: 0.1 dB

Fusion splicing offers superior performance with lower signal loss and better reflectance — making it the preferred choice for single mode and high-speed multimode fiber applications where OM-grade performance is critical.
